Sales Engineer for Europe

As the only Sales Engineer for EMEA, I planned, conducted and directed projects, including technical leadership and project evaluation about XML integration projects between HomeAway and their key account clients; meaning extremely large accounts of more than 30k online listings. I provided all necessary project information (process, timeline, needed resources) about the Application Programming Interface (API). I collected business, product and technical requirements from customers and worked closely with Product, Product Marketing and other cross-functional teams to ensure product would be a great fit for the clients. I coordinated the steps between all stakeholders of the project, meaning the customer, the sales teams and the technical engineers, from the first call to go-live, through end-user training. The customer relationship was covered over voice and video-calls, but also live for especially important clients or software partners. To my manager and colleagues I provided feedback as a technical resource for future integration strategies and long-range planning. I served as coach and mentor for the new sales engineers in the US team. I provided pre-sales support and systems configuration recommendations to sales teams and property managers. I performed analysis and research to provide creative solutions to technical problems, which allowed me several times to enhance existing work processes. I supported e-commerce strategy, including rollout of online booking to Property Manager Customer Base.

In this role, I was mainly responsible of managing the connection projects between HomeAway and their smaller business clients. The connection was an API integration between the customer Channel Management Software and their HomeAway account. The API enabled the listings to be synchronized between the two platforms in order the client had to enter the content only one time on his end. As main technical client contact and before an API could be connected, my role was to provide the customer with information about technical project requirements. During implementation, I was also the main contact for all of our EMEA Software Partners. I was in constant contact with all involved teams, created Statements of Work (SOW), as well as customer documentation for the use of the API and translated this last from English into French and German. As Team Lead for the European team, I led a group of three people all located in different countries (Germany, France and Spain). I assisted my manager with hiring new team members and also led the training of new team mates. During team meetings, I usually presented upcoming projects and assigned them to my colleagues.
