About Yann

During my 6 years experience at Amadeus I acquired a strong background in Back-End / Data modelling / Code quality / High SLA and DevOps tasks. In parallel, I had some small projects that made my skills grow in rapid prototyping (hardware + software), electronic design and micro-controllers.

When I created my company, OuiSnap, in 2015, I had to mix all those skills together to create a product from scratch.

Since then I always kept some freelancing contracts because I like to keep my brain active on some new challenges.

I worked as an independent contractor for a movie production to design, build, program and operate an hexapode platform robot. This platform was used as a camel simulator, with an actor on top of it, and had to be moving like a real camel. I did the following tasks, from June to September: - Mechanical conception of the platform with 6 linear actuators + 4 motors. - Electronic board for real time control (microcontroller, C++) - Python Backend software running on computer doing: aggregation of the different inputs, computation of the hexapod’s inverse kinematics, streaming data to the electronic board + front end. - JavaScript front end for live 3D visualisation. Then from October to December I went with the movie team on location (Morocco) to operate the platform and update the code depending on the Director needs.

I worked as an independent contractor to prototype video stabilisation + target detection algorithm for automated drone landing. It has to run on a low power SoC (5 Watts) and communicate via UART. The algorithm I designed was using Fragment Shaders (OpenGL ES 2.0) to preprocess the camera images, then the rest of the processing was done with OpenCV C++ API.

I worked as an independent contractor to design, build, program, and deliver a console for remote controlling two robots for a movie production with the following features: - Remote control of 82 motors. - Hardware console with 100+ buttons / LED + four 3-axis joysticks + 48 motorised potentiometers + LCD screen + an ESP32 micro-controler. - Radio link (868 MHz GFSK modulation) with a custom designed receiver module + custom protocol. - ESP32 Firmware (C++) to implement all the needed scenarios onboard + a USB connection to computer for monitoring and additional features. - Python app with GUI to control channels from live face detected features like mouth movements (OpenCV + Dlib) - Hexapod platform controller running on micro-controller (C++), with a 3D simulator on computer (Python / OpenGL). Both robots, Einstein & Decker, can be seen in the movie BigBug, by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, on Netflix.
