Paul in a few words

I've been responsible for multiple DevOps project since I've entered my first company here is a couple of topics I've worked on:

- Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines providing developer with rapid feedback loop
- Mentor and engage developer in the tools used to support their application
- Resilient infrastructure design in microservices environment using cloud provider like AWS and third party tools like Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker...
- Setting up monitoring dashboard using the main tools out there like Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, InfluxDB stack (TICK).... as well as alerting threshold
- Reduce the error between developer environment and production environment by creating centralized dev environment all managed via tools like Ansible and Vmware Vsphere ensuring that everyone as enough compute power to work efficiently.
- Troubleshooting production performance and identifying bottleneck

At Side we were using Meteor.js for most of our apps and Galaxy to deploy faster into production.
However, our features were constantly evolving and we needed Golang binary to be shipped in production as well. In order to achieve this goal, I've took it upon myself to learn how to use AWS from scratch.
Using Terraform, I've built a new template that was building a whole new production on EC2 instances. I have setup a proxy to use SSL with Let's Encrypt, and plug the whole thing to our Gitlab via the CI tool it provide.
In two week we had a pre-production running and our deploy process was as simple as the one command from Galaxy. We could deploy any type of code using docker container.
One month later, the production ran entirely on AWS using the custom made Terraform template.

Side

Human Resources

Front-End

Paris, France

June 2016 - March 2017

Side (www.side.co) is building the best flexible work platform in Europe allowing the fastest growing companies to select and work with great freelancers. Every month, thousands of freelancers (Siders) and companies - like Printemps, The Kooples, Deliveroo or Bang & Olufsen - are using Side on a regular basis for short term or temporary work.

I joined Side in June 2016 and was given responsibility of the product front-end, which was running with Meteor. The product had just been separated in various microservices and my main task was to develop new features for the Siders platform.

Once I got a good grip at the product, I began developing new platforms and news features using React.

Even though we were still using Meteor for our entire platform and even though this framework is excellent to build a product fast, we had different needs that could only be solved via custom solutions using builders such as WebPack.
It was the occasion to design a brand new project organisation using React-Router and Redux.
This project gave us the ability to scale the product and solve speed-performance issues our top-users were having

Side’s focus on the product allowed the developers team to grow fast. At the end of 2016, we were 10 devs. Going through this change allowed me to sharpen what I now think is the most essential skill for a developer: working in a group.
Helping each others and taking advices or critics from my peers i has dramatically improved the quality of what I was building.

He helped us a lot at the beginning of our start up and is able to discuss technology with everybody even people such as me not very specialized... and i understood everything because of him! We wanted to hire him but we were to small to keep a such talent, we are still regretting him today! Go with him without hesitation. Thibaut

Paul helped us accelerate our development at Mudita (https://mudita-music.com/) and I wish we could work longer with him. He is rigorous, experimented and nice to work with. We wanted someone autonomous, able to take decisions by himself and show the results on time and that's exactly who Paul is. Work with him, you CAN'T regret it.
