Public relations professional, primarily with experience in corporate communications and executive profiling in the media & technology sectors. Most recent experience is with earlier-stage companies who are starting to look at media relations as a vehicle to raise funding and attract new customers and partners.

Matt has 20+ years experience, mostly in tech PR. After almost a decade in the recorded music industry, where he became the record labels' primary media spokesperson, he led corporate tech PR and product publicity campaigns for the BBC.

Since 2012, he's worked as an independent consultant and in agency leadership roles, advising SMEs & startups, and larger brands such as TransferWise and Reach PLC.

He founded and exited a pay-as-you-go PR agency PPR (2017-2022) which delivered hundreds of pieces of coverage for over 50 marketing services firms and tech scaleups.

PPR was a pay-as-you-go PR service for scaleups. Matt Phillips founded the company after 15 years in tech PR (working with brands such as BBC, Universal Music, TransferWise, Mirror Group and dozens of startups) to solve the problem of high 'sunk cost' agency retainer fees that put quality PR out of reach for most smaller brands. After five successful years, that saw the business deliver hundreds of pieces of media coverage for over 50 different clients, Matt shut the business to focus on delivering an enhanced growth consultancy service (of which PR remains a key part) for a smaller group of clients.
