Experience

  • North P&D, Inc.
    Founder and Tech Lead
    May 2021 - Today (5 years and 3 months)
    Toronto, ON, Canada
    In May of 2021, I started North P&D with the goal of providing high-quality software development and technology services to both technical and non technical businesses and individuals. Visit northpnd.com, or contact me to see how North P&D can help you!
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    Software Development Engineer Intern
    May 2020 - August 2020 (3 months)
    Vancouver, BC, Canada
    At AWS, I had the exciting opportunity of contributing to customer-facing features on the EC2 Auto Scaling service, which adapts the allotted compute capacity to meet changes in demand. Working closely with full-time engineers, I improved my Java programming skills, and gained exposure to the pull request code reviewing process. I also learned to make better use of important tools, such as an IDE's debugger, or the bash command shell. My internship also improved my technical communication abilities, as I presented a live demonstration to my team, and contributed to Amazon's internal documentation.
  • RBC Wealth Management
    Web Developer Co-op
    May 2019 - December 2019 (7 months)
    Toronto, ON, Canada
    Being part of the Prototyping and Innovation team at RBC Wealth Management was a great learning opportunity. Some of the work I did at RBC includes:
    - Making contributions to features built using the Vue.js front end framework (and its complementary state management pattern Vuex);
    - Building proof of concept applications to explore the use of certain technologies or processes within our team, which led me to experiment with PostgreSQL, axios, path, express, cors, JWTs, and Selenium;
    - Helping migrate a process (custom PDF generation) from the front end of a web application to its back end, resulting in increased iteration speed and convenience for developers, as it enabled them to avoid having to build and serve the project to see their changes, as well as to view and edit an html template in a separate html file rather than a non-linted, non-indented and monochrome string of characters embedded in another file. This exposed me to backend concepts, since I had to learn how to build simple Node.js servers to handle POST and GET requests;
    - Participating in building an experimental npm package (https:// www.npmjs.com/package/@rbc-dsse/innersource) aimed at: a) Significantly reducing data processing time upon website load; b) Standardizing data processing algorithms across multiple web apps.
    - Attending a company-led hackathon on the theme of voice applications, which exposed me to technologies such as Rasa and Voiceflow, and gave me a chance to exchange with some of RBC's voice technology developers.
