Actors find themselves at a crossroads between two trajectories: on one hand, the structuring of a value chain around an industrial tool enabling cascading valorization of woad; on the other, a set of initiatives focused on agro-tourism, but with limited contribution to territorial development.

In response to climate change and the need to diversify local agriculture beyond viticulture, pomegranate was identified as a promising alternative crop. My work aimed to identify feasible strategies to enhance the economic viability of this emerging sector by leveraging by-product valorization, in coordination with a complementary industrial chemistry thesis focused on the characterization of these by-products.

I handled the entire modeling process: programming in Java, model calibration, sensitivity testing, and quantitative data analysis using statistical tools such as descriptive statistics and factor analysis. This experience strengthened my expertise in agent-based modeling, Java programming, sensitivity analysis, and quantitative methods.

- Doctor of PhilosophyINP ENSAT L'AGROTOULOUSE2023PhD in Economics Summary – Circular Bioeconomy and Territorial Development My PhD, conducted at INRAE Toulouse (UMR AGIR, Odycée team), explored the conditions under which a territorialised circular bioeconomy can emerge through the valorisation of agricultural and agri-food by-products. Based on an in-depth case study of the French pomegranate sector (214 interviews, workshops, agent-based modelling), I analysed the organisational dynamics required to implement cascading valorisation. My research highlights key drivers and barriers to building innovative territorial value chains and proposes tools to foster local anchoring of emerging bio-based sectors, by connecting economic development, resource governance, and cross-sectoral cooperation.
