• Provided strategic leadership and support to the Amnesty International movement, devising and implementing grants fundraising strategies. Prepared the International Project Unit’s strategic and operational plans and budgets to ensure coordination with the International Fundraising Programme’s overall goals and the IS’s growth targets; managed a team of five International Projects Advisors to achieve their income target and deliver the Grants Fundraising strategy. • Cultivated and maintained strategic high-value relationships and developed funding opportunities with 21 new international funders over five years, including the NRK Telethon, Oak Foundation, Open Society Foundations, Ford Foundation, Postcode Lotteries and Adessium Foundation. Maintained an overview of grants fundraising market potential and trends. • Secured in excess of £31 million from international trust, foundation and public funders, increasing annual grant income by over 400% and total grant value by over 500% over five years, working in partnership with the movement to ensure the International Secretariat had income for its budgeted activities. Oversaw the development and submission of proposals to international grant giving bodies, making sound judgements and assuming overall responsibility for the IS’s full portfolio of funders and projects. • Oversaw the implementation of all grant funded projects; advised the Secretary General, Senior Leadership Team and programme staff to ensure donor conditions were complied with. Managed annual expenditure of £300,000 and income totalling up to £10 million at any one time. • Modelled and shared best practice for grants fundraising across the Amnesty International movement; ensured a coordinated and integrated approach to fundraising, and financial and organizational development to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of fundraising activities.
